Funded by the Nature Town and Cities project, this role is predominantly about creating opportunities for greater collaboration between likeminded partner organisations. The ultimate goal of this role is to increase the number of and participation in green initiatives across Manchester that support sustainable travel, health and biodiversity. This will support Manchester City Council and the Parks service towards achieving their objectives in this area. 

 

The role focuses on fostering community engagement and collaboration to enhance urban green spaces. Key responsibilities include building strong partnerships with stakeholders, facilitating inclusive community-led initiatives, and addressing barriers to participation for marginalized groups. The position involves coordinating urban greening projects, developing engagement strategies, and overseeing volunteer training in biodiversity and green skills. It also requires gathering and analysing data to evaluate success, producing reports and case studies, managing communications, and identifying funding opportunities to sustain environmental projects. 

 

The outcomes focus on increasing inclusive participation in urban greening projects, strengthening partnerships among stakeholders, and embedding community voices in decision-making. They include expanding community-led biodiversity initiatives, delivering training to build green skills, and growing volunteer networks. Additional priorities involve supporting groups to secure funding, developing long-term sustainability strategies, and sharing impact through reports, case studies, and digital communications to inform policy and best practices.
