Working Arrangement: This is a hybrid role with a mix of home and office-based working at Trafford Town Hall in Stretford.

Our HR and Payroll Transactions Teams process approximately 8,000 salary/contractual changes every month, from a diverse customer group of Council staff, Police staff and officers, Leisure Services staff, Schools and Colleges, teachers and staff.

About the Role

We are recruiting a Payroll Support Officer within the Greater Manchester Shared Service Centre.

If you are looking for a challenge in a fast paced, high volume, customer focused environment and you have a passion for payroll delivery then this role could be for you!

You will support the GMSS Management Team in respect of all matters relating to Payroll processes, understanding regulations and legislation, acting as a point for specialist advice for employees, managers and external stakeholders.

You will support the development of a Shared Service Centre for Partnership members, ensuring a high performing and customer focused transactional HR, Payroll and Pension service that is continuously improving and makes best use of all available technology.

You will provide a comprehensive payroll control and governance administration function across a number of large, complex organisations.

Your will respond to general and complex queries from employees regarding their pay.

About You

Prime candidates will have some experience and understanding of payroll processes and calculations, be numerate and have a related qualification (or be able to demonstrate competence through previous experience). You will support the GMSS Management Team in respect of all matters relating to Payroll processes, understanding regulations and legislation, acting as a point for specialist advice for employees, managers and external stakeholders. You will need to evidence this in your application to increase your chances of being shortlisted
