The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support & Engagement Mentor to work with children and young people who are at risk of exclusion or returning to mainstream education from alternative provision.
In this rewarding and impactful role, you will support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs to successfully access and engage in education. Many of the young people you will work with may not have engaged with mainstream education for a significant period and may require tailored, consistent support to rebuild confidence, resilience, and positive routines.

About You
You will have proven experience managing challenging behaviour in schools and demonstrate the ability to work in a positive, solution-focused manner, using independence and initiative to achieve meaningful outcomes. You will possess comprehensive knowledge of a range of evidence-based intervention techniques to support sustainable change within families and have the skills to build and maintain effective professional relationships with schools, children, parents/carers and colleagues.
You will demonstrate resilience, empathy and excellent communication skills, alongside a strong commitment to inclusive practice and the belief that every child can succeed. A relevant NVQ (or equivalent qualification) is essential, together with a minimum of three years’ experience delivering high-quality, effective support to children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
