Join us at Stockport Council MJ Local Authority of the Year 2025 Your Role We’d love you to come and join Stockport Family as an Advanced Social Work Practitioner in our new Children in our Care service! We are excited to share that we have recently launched a dedicated Children in our Care service here in Stockport, and are looking out for experienced, driven and caring Advanced Social Work practitioners to help support our most important people, our children and their families! With practice being centred around relationships; social workers will work closely with children and families, and the services in place to support them, to secure the finest outcomes for our children. As part of our work we strive to maintain the best relationships with our social work colleagues in Locality Teams and Leaving Care Teams to ensure smooth transitions for young people between services. We have a relentless focus on achieving stability and permanence for our young people, supporting them day to day to achieve their goals, and ensure that all children have the very best support in their transition into adulthood. As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner in Stockport Family, you will get to meet families, build relationships with them, and see the outcomes of the hard work you’ve put in. This will also provide you with a breadth of different skills and experiences, which will go some way in enhancing your social work knowledge. Our Advanced Social Work Practitioners are key people in our management structure. We ask our Advanced Social Work Practitioners to be real sources of support to our Team Leaders you will be crucial to performance management, the development of student and ASYE social workers and hold a reduced but more complex caseload, in order to support you to develop professionally, but also to give you the time and space you need to really develop your team. In Stockport, career development is key. Our Team Leader cohort grew their careers from being social workers in Stockport we are committed to growing our Senior Practitioners and supporting you with your long-term career goals. We have a system of mentoring and buddying to support you to develop your career in whatever direction interests you and our yearly PDRs have really positive feedback from our social workers in terms of how they support with career development. You will be a part of a friendly and welcoming team, with each team having two experienced senior practitioners and a skilled, nurturing team leader. We would like our Advanced Social Work Practitioners to have solid experience of working within childrens safeguarding, a sound knowledge of Court/ legal processes around permanency and ideally have experience of working with Cared for Children to secure the best outcomes for them.
