Salary: Bolton Grade G, Scale Points 2327, £29,485- £32,727
Contract: Full-time, Permanent, Term Time plus 5 days
Responsible to: Headteacher/Designated Safeguarding Lead

About the Role:
We are seeking to appoint a committed and proactive Pastoral Lead to join our team. This key role will support the school in promoting excellent attendance and ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding and pastoral care for our pupils.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Senior Leadership Team, staff, families and external agencies to support pupils and families, remove barriers to learning, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Attendance:

• Monitor and analyse pupil attendance and punctuality, identifying trends and areas for intervention.
• Implement strategies to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence, working closely with pupils and families.
• Conduct first-day response procedures and home visits where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers to support improved attendance.
• Produce attendance reports and provide regular updates to senior leaders and staff.
• Work with the Local Authority and external agencies to support pupils experiencing attendance difficulties.

Safeguarding:

• Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in implementing the school’s safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and maintaining accurate records.
• Coordinate referrals to external agencies and contribute to multi-agency meetings where required.
• Provide advice and guidance to staff on safeguarding matters and support the identification of vulnerable pupils.
• Maintain secure, confidential and up-to-date safeguarding records in line with statutory guidance.

Pastoral and Family Support:

• Work directly with pupils and families to identify barriers to attendance, wellbeing and engagement in school.
• Support pupils returning to school following periods of absence.
• Contribute to early help and family support interventions in collaboration with external professionals.
