About the Role

As our Children’s Welfare Officer, you will be a vital member of the Senior Leadership Team, serving as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). You will:

• Lead the safeguarding and welfare strategy, ensuring every child is protected and supported
• Act as a trusted professional representative at child protection meetings and when required, court proceedings
• Plan and deliver targeted intervention programmes for children and families, including behaviour and learning support
• Manage sensitive records with confidentiality and accuracy, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks
• Provide expert advice and training to staff on safeguarding and welfare issues
• Collaborate with external agencies including social care, health professionals, and the police
• Promote positive attendance and support families to overcome barriers to learning

• Brings a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, backed by relevant qualifications or extensive experience
• Has proven success working with vulnerable children and families, ideally within education, social care, or related sectors

• Demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills, managing complex caseloads with professionalism
• Thrives as a team player who can also work independently and lead with confidence
• Is committed to continuous professional development and sharing knowledge with colleagues
