Ashgate School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, friendly and efficient Receptionist/Admin Officer to join our administration team.

Experience of administration work is essential, this does not have to be school based.

Like all of our staff, applicants need to be reliable and adaptable, with positive attitudes towards children and young people with special needs.

Everyone here, including casual employees, works in a challenging but rewarding and supportive environment.

Specific duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To receive visitors to the school and communicate to all staff, pupils, parents, carers, visitors, outside agencies and the wider community, including answering general telephone and face to face queries.
  • To provide general clerical and administrative support
  • To attend and participate in relevant meetings as required, taking notes to a high standard
  • To operate relevant equipment and ICT packages; knowledge of SIMS desirable but not essential
  • Ordering and distributing of school supplies
  • Using initiative in time management to organise own workload in order to meet deadlines

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Experience of general clerical, administrative and financial work
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to manage own workload effectively
  • Ability to produce accurate written minutes/notes of meetings
  • Good keyboard skills in order to produce high quality documents
  • Have a knowledge and awareness of the regulatory framework around education and schools
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • Ability to identify your own training and development needs and cooperate with the means to address these needs


Ashgate Specialist Support Primary School is an Outstanding (Ofsted November 2024) specialist school.
