About the Role

Fylde Council is looking for a proactive and motivated Planning Enforcement Officer to join our Planning Enforcement team, part of the wider Development Management service. This is a key role in helping us maintain and enhance the high-quality built environment that makes Fylde such a distinctive and attractive place.

As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you will manage a varied and engaging caseload. Your work will include monitoring ongoing developments, investigating potential breaches of planning control, and ensuring that planning decisions are upheld in a fair, transparent and effective way.

You’ll be working across a borough with exceptional variety — from scenic rural countryside and coastline to a vibrant night-time and retail economy, multiple conservation areas and significant employment zones. With an adopted Local Plan in place, our focus is firmly on ensuring that development across Fylde is of an exceptional standard and contributes to making the borough an even better place to live, work and visit.

What We’re Looking For

This role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners. You’ll be confident engaging with a wide range of people — including residents, developers and elected members — and able to handle challenging conversations with professionalism and clarity.

Knowledge of planning legislation and the operation of the planning system within a Local Planning Authority is an advantage. However, for the right candidate, we are committed to providing training and development to help you excel in the role.

What We Offer

Working for Fylde Council means joining a modern, supportive and forward-thinking organisation. We offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Up to 29 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Flexible working arrangements supporting a healthy work–life balance
  • Free on-site parking
  • Essential car user allowance
  • Wellbeing initiatives, including discounted gym membership
  • Extensive training and development opportunities within a positive, one-team culture
