Our School:
Kingsland School is a split site provision catering for pupils aged 11 16.
Our Broadbent Road site is a Pupil Referral Unit which offers Day 6 provision for those pupils who have been permanently excluded from an Oldham Secondary School or Academy. Our second site, known as Laurel Bank currently hosts our Specialist Learning Centre and is based in Shaw, Oldham. This provision is for pupils experiencing social, emotional or mental health and medical needs which creates a barrier to their attendance at school. This site also hosts our unique provision catering for pupils from the SLC with an Educational Health Care Plan.

Role Overview:
We are excited to offer this opportunity for a dedicated individual to support the smooth running of our Pastoral Service and assist our Safeguarding Team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about improving the life chances of vulnerable young people.
The successful candidate will have the knowledge and skills required to strengthen engagement with pupils and their families, particularly in relation to school attendance, wellbeing, welfare, and safeguarding. They will also demonstrate a strong understanding of the barriers that can prevent pupils from reaching their full potential and be committed to helping overcome these challenges through effective support and collaboration.

Key elements of this role are:

• To manage the pastoral team to ensure it addresses the needs of the pupils.
• To be responsible for attendance/truancy.
• To co-ordinate the process of pupil reintegration across the school.
• To be responsible for all admissions to school.
• To develop, plan and implement strategies relating to a wide variety of topics.
• To support the safeguarding across the school including attendance at meetings and managing systems including CPOMS.

We are seeking an individual who can promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour among pupils, while effectively managing challenging behaviour, conflicts and incidents. The successful candidate will encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own actions and support the development of self-control and positive decision-making.
Experience of working with safeguarding matters is an essential requirement for this role due to the responsibilities involved in supporting pupil welfare and safety.
The successful applicant will be able to build strong, positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents, and will work alongside a welcoming and dedicated staff team committed to supporting every pupil’s wellbeing and success.
