Your role:
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Missing From Home Worker to join our fantastic Complex Safeguarding Team. This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave, but can provide a fantastic opportunity to increase skillset, experience and knowledge working alongside a specialist team.

You will inform part of a specialist service working closely with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police, REACH colleagues, Specialist Health, and other partners to deliver the best possible service to those subject to or at risk of exploitation. As a Missing From Home Worker on the Complex Safeguarding Team, you will be trained as a specialist in responding to children who are reported to Police as missing from home/ care and contextual safeguarding to enable you to provide specialist interventions with children.

We are looking to appoint someone with the required experience of working with children and families, who can build trusted relationships with children and deliver trauma informed approaches to their work.

Wigan Complex Safeguarding Team are a multi-agency co-located team who are based at Wigan Police Station. Multi-agency working within this team is a key strength supported by GMP, specialist health, social workers, complex safeguarding workers along with a forensic psychologist supporting the team as part of GM trusted relationship service. There are links to all other services including Education, Sexual Health, Community, Housing, Wigan Youth Zone and CAMHS.

The team complete intervention with children at risk of or subject to all forms of exploitation and respond to all children reported as missing to Police. The intervention completed reduces risks posed to the children whilst missing from home, early identification of potential exploitation concerns and embed trauma informed principles. The complex safeguarding team work collaboratively within a multi-agency team to ensure safeguards are in place across all contexts.
