Blackpool Council is looking for a proactive and motivated Traffic and Parking Network Officer to support the development and delivery of our traffic management policies, strategies and day-to-day operations. This role is a fantastic opportunity to help shape safer, more efficient movement across our town and contribute to improvements that benefit residents, businesses and visitors.

As part of the Traffic Management team, you will support a wide range of highways and traffic projects, ensuring compliance with legislation and helping deliver well-designed, safe and effective schemes on the ground. You’ll work closely with colleagues, contractors, residents and partner organisations to address traffic concerns, improve road safety, and enhance our local network.

Key areas of work include:

Assisting with the design and delivery of traffic management schemes, including signage, road markings and Section 278 works.
Supporting parking permit assessments and wider parking reviews.
Undertaking traffic surveys and analysing data to inform decisions.
Investigating concerns raised by residents and stakeholders, and contributing to meaningful solutions.
Ensuring all works meet current regulations and are enforceable.
Liaising with local communities, transport providers, emergency services and other partners.

This is a hands-on role involving site visits, inspections and technical work, alongside regular communication with members of the public.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, sound technical understanding and a positive, solution-focused approach.

You will bring:

Knowledge of traffic regulations, road safety design and highways construction.
Strong IT skills, with experience using specialist software such as AutoCAD.
Ability to use survey and monitoring equipment.
Effective communication, customer service and time-management skills.
Experience in coordinating traffic or highway works and handling enquiries.
A Level 2 qualification (GCSEs or equivalent) and Level 3 qualification in Engineering or related subject.
A driving licence is desirable.

At Blackpool Council, our vision is to continue shaping a resilient, diverse local economy while creating strong, sustainable communities. We are committed to delivering quality, fairness, accountability and compassion in everything we do. As the UK’s number one family resort, we are proud of our identity and driven by the ambition to create opportunities for all.

The chance to make a tangible difference across Blackpool’s road network and public spaces.
A supportive and collaborative working environment.
Opportunities to develop your technical and professional skills.
The ability to work across a variety of locations within the Blackpool area.
