About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional to support and strengthen Trafford’s statutory responsibilities for Children’s Services complaints, ensuring full compliance with the Children Act 1989 Representations Procedure (England) Regulations 2006 and associated statutory guidance.

This is a pivotal role that ensures children, young people, and families are supported when they raise concerns, that their complaints are managed with fairness, transparency, and compassion, and that the Council gains the maximum learning from every representation.

You will oversee all activity relating to the statutory threestage complaints process:

  • Stage 1 Local Resolution
  • Stage 2 Independent Investigation
  • Stage 3 Review Panel

You will support Children Services and external independent professionals to ensure Trafford delivers a childcentered, rightsbased, compliant, and highquality complaints service that drives meaningful learning and improvement.

About You

You will bring a strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 statutory complaints framework and the professionalism to handle sensitive and complex issues with empathy. You are confident interpreting legislation, statutory guidance and regulatory expectations, and you are able to communicate clearly and holistically with children, young people, families and senior leaders alike.

Your ability to produce highquality thematic analysis helps identify meaningful learning and drive improvement, and you build positive, collaborative relationships rooted in a belief that feedback strengthens practice. Above all, you are passionate about truly hearing the voices of children and families and championing a culture where complaints are valued as a powerful source of insight and continuous improvement across Children’s Services.
