Fixed Term for 12 months (subject to staffing requirements)

The Governors of St Hilda’s are seeking to appoint an outstanding, compassionate and highly motivated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This rewarding role will involve providing targeted support for a pupil with additional needs in social, emotional and mental health (SEMH), as well as speech, language and communication.

We are looking for a nurturing and resilient individual who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child’s life. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the pupil’s academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development, helping them to feel safe, regulated, supported, and able to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing consistent, tailored support in line with Individual Learning and Behaviour Plans
  • Supporting the pupil’s emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the school day
  • Implementing trauma-informed and restorative approaches to promote positive behaviour
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SENCo, and external professionals
  • Encouraging engagement, independence, and confidence in learning

We are looking for someone who has experience of:

  • Trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches
  • Supporting children who experience challenges in:
    • Communication and interaction
    • Social and emotional wellbeing
    • Concentration and engagement
    • Emotional dysregulation
    • Adverse Childhood experiences
    • Supporting children with ADHD and Autism

Applicants should have:

  • Excellent behaviour management skills, including the use of positive reinforcement and constructive feedback
  • Good English, Maths and IT skills
  • Experience of working on an alternative curriculum
  • Experience of effectively feeding back to the class teacher regarding children’s progress
