Salford Community Leisure (SCL) is a dynamic, non-for-profit organisation committed to enriching the lives of the people in and around Salford through sports, leisure, culture, and well-being. We are passionate about nurturing inclusive and healthy communities, ensuring that every individual has access to the opportunities and services that support physical and mental health, creativity, and personal development.

Salford as a city is one of the fastest-growing local authority districts in England and Wales and is becoming more diverse. There are major ongoing health challenges and inequalities within the city and an ambitious set of strategies have been developed to tackle them. Physical exercise, creativity, learning and community development have been identified to change peoples lives for the better.

Do you have a passion for libraries, Early Years literacy and community engagement? Do you want to support speech and language development across Salford and help improve school readiness? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

You will plan and deliver engaging Early Years activities across Salford libraries and communities, including targeted outreach to underrepresented groups to increase library attendance, memberships and loans. You will build partnerships with community and voluntary organisations, help develop new literacy initiatives, deliver staff training, and support frontline library services where needed.

We are looking for someone with a passion for libraries and the transformative power of reading and stories, alongside experience of working with young children and families. A knowledge of current developments in the Public Library Sector, experience of partnership working and community engagement would be beneficial but not essential.

The role is 30 hours per week across 4 days, Monday to Friday. The post is citywide, so travel across Salford is required, along with a flexible approach to meeting service needs. It is fixed term until 31st March 2027.
