Salary: £34,069 - £52,835 per annum
The post holder will be expected to match the characteristics appropriate to their seniority, as described in the Teachers’ Standards Framework.
Under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher, he/she will be required to exercise his/her professional skills and judgement to carry out, in a collaborative manner, the duties of a teacher, as set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
Working with Children & Young People: Undertake an agreed, appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties of a teacher within designated PRU Centres, schools or other settings:
- Assessing pupils’ needs through the analysis of available data, initial and ongoing observation and assessment;
- Monitoring and tracking pupil progress to inform the setting of appropriately challenging and achievable individual targets;
- Planning, developing, modelling and enhancing appropriate provision, learning programmes and / or lessons to take account of pupils’ needs and aspirations and the requirements of the curriculum;
- Teaching clearly structured lessons or sequences of lessons, which engage and motivate children and young people using a variety of strategies appropriate to the full range of preferred learning styles;Supporting lessons and other sessions delivered by teaching and other colleagues as required;
- Promoting and maintaining an ethos of disciplined behaviour to ensure effective learning;
- Maintaining accurate records as required by Curriculum Leaders, the Headteacher and the Strategic Leadership Team of the Pupil Referral Unit;
- Establishing and maintaining high expectations of pupils, self and the work of the PRU;
- Participating and assisting in whole-school self review, evaluation and development planning.
Working with Schools, Settings and other stakeholders: To work within designated schools or settings on an agreed programme of work that may include:
- Providing clear and accurate assessments of pupils’ attainment, strengths and needs to inform individual education plans for placement and transitions; Working with parents, carers, and all other relevant agencies and/or partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people with additional behaviour, social and emotional needs.
- Providing advice on curriculum delivery for whole school/setting approach or specific target groups;
- Sharing innovation and best practice in teaching and learning methods throughout schools/settings, identifying the appropriate resource materials and techniques to support delivery;
- Monitoring and evaluating the performance of PRU settings and reporting to appropriate members of the Strategic Leadership Team, as required.
- Reporting on the progress of assigned pupils to parents/carers, Curriculum leader, Strategic Leadership Team, PRU Management Committee and other stakeholders;
