Due to a short term absence within the Digital Policy Team this role is offered as a 6 month fixed term contract. The role offers an ideal secondment opportunity for someone looking to development in a project and policy support role.

You’ll join GM Digital at an exciting time as we embark on the refresh of our GM Digital Blueprint following the launch of the Together We Are Greater Manchester Strategy last year.

About the role

As a Policy and Project Support Officer, you will help develop highquality, evidencebased policy and strategy across GMCA’s Digital Directorate. You’ll work with local authorities, public services, government departments, universities, industry partners and equality panels to shape digital priorities that improve the lives of our 2.8 million residents.

You will:

  • Develop and maintain specialist expertise in digital policy and strategy, providing insight on national developments and their implications for Greater Manchester.
  • Lead crosscutting strategic projects, systemwide policy development and options appraisal, using evidence, data and research to shape recommendations.
  • Provide clear, influential advice and briefings to senior leaders, politicians, and Digital Portfolio Leads and represent the Digital Directorate.
  • Build strong partnerships across public, private, academic and VCFSE sectors, identifying opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensure digital priorities are embedded across wider GMCA programmes, strategies and placebased initiatives.
  • Support the evolution of the GM Digital Blueprint and the Connected People & Places workstream of the Greater Manchester Strategy.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in policy and/or strategy roles, ideally with exposure to digital, data, technology or complex crosscutting policy landscapes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret evidence, synthesise insight and translate policy into actionable strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills written, verbal and visual with the ability to influence and build consensus in complex environments.
  • Political awareness, sound judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships at senior levels.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with diverse partners.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, work at pace and adapt to shifting demands.
