The Governing Body of Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School wish to appoint Level 2 Teaching Assistants, EYFS, KS1 & KS2.

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, caring and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated team.

We have opportunities to work across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. These are permanent positions and offer an excellent opportunity to become part of our diverse, inclusive and welcoming school family.

About the roles

Our Teaching Assistants play an important part in helping every child to thrive. Successful candidates will work alongside teachers and other professionals to support pupils’ learning, development, wellbeing and inclusion.

The roles will include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.
  • Working with individual pupils and small groups.
  • Delivering targeted interventions under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCO.
  • Supporting children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Supporting pupils with needs including ADHD, autism (ASD), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
  • Supporting pupils to develop communication, emotional regulation, resilience and independence.
  • Helping pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Supporting positive behaviour for learning through consistent, nurturing approaches.
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCO, pastoral staff and other members of the school team.
  • Supporting children’s personal care where this is required as part of an individual child’s needs.

We are looking for people who:

Are passionate about helping children learn and succeed.

You will be patient, positive and able to build secure and appropriate relationships with children while maintaining high expectations.

Ideally, you will have experience of working with children with SEND, particularly pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech, language and communication needs.

You should be able to adapt your approach to meet different children’s needs and understand that behaviour can be a form of communication.

You will also need to be:

  • Caring, calm and resilient.
  • Reliable and well organised.
  • Able to use initiative while working within agreed school procedures.
  • A strong team member.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
  • Willing to undertake training and continually develop your practice.
  • Supportive of the Catholic ethos and mission of our school.

Experience of working within EYFS, KS1 or KS2 would be advantageous. Applicants should hold an appropriate Level 2 qualification or equivalent relevant to the role.
